PDX <> LAX is a collaborative illustration exhibition featuring original paintings by Zachary Rau and Chris Sasaki
RAU is a Portland-based illustrator and educator whose work serves as an intimate record of his surroundings, often attuned to the quiet moments that shape daily life. Drawing inspiration from the Intimist movement of the early 20th century, he captures the city’s social fabric through scenes of dining, drinking, and gathering.
SASAKI is a California-based animation director, writer, and illustrator who has spent the past several years developing an intimate documentation of the lives and landscapes of Los Angeles. Their work explores the stillness found within the urban rush, inviting viewers to peer into their world and find moments of rest among the friends, residents, and structures he has crossed paths with.
Brought together through a friendship and creative practice that spans the West Coast, Rau and Sasaki bring distinct visual languages to a shared impulse: to observe, document, and honor the intimate moments of the people and places they call home.
