Every Summer They Disappear at 4pm
Fabian Lavater
We’re beyond excited to welcome Swiss-born artist Fabian Lavater to The Purple Door for his debut U.S. solo exhibition. Coming to Portland from the coast of France, Fabian brings a new body of work inspired by the sea, coastal landscapes, and those quiet moments in nature that bring us back to ourselves.
In a culture of constant acceleration, Fabian’s work is an invitation to slow down—to go for a swim, catch a wave, watch the clouds, or simply be where you are. Through a reduced visual language, fluid lines, and a deep sense of stillness, his work creates contemplative spaces that invite us to breathe, pause, and reflect.
TWO EXCITING DATES:
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 · 5–8PM
Pre-show Party at Up North Surf Club
We've teamed up with our surfy friends at Up North! Come meet Fabian, have a beer, watch a surf flick, and check out the limited-edition merch we created with Up North exclusively for the exhibition. RSVP HERE
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 · 6–9PM
Opening Reception at The Purple Door
Drinks will be poured by Up North's OG bartender, Andrew Hancuff, and records will be spun by Ramon (DJ Ram Power). Join us for an evening of art, music, drinks, and good company as we celebrate Fabian’s first U.S. Solo exhibition.
